Safety Tips
-
When choosing a location for your ultrasonic humidifier, choose a flat, level surface where the humidifier cord will not be in danger of coming into contact with heated surfaces. Always examine the humidifier cord before using and do not use if the cord shows signs of damage. Using an extension cord with your humidifier is not recommended as it may increase the risk of fire, shock or other injury. Never operate your ultrasonic humidifier without water, and turn off the humidifier when the tank is empty to avoid damaging the unit. When using the humidifier, direct the moisture stream away from walls or furniture to avoid possible damage from condensation.
Operation
-
To use your ultrasonic humidifier, make sure the power dial is turned to "Off" and the unit is unplugged. Remove the water tank from the humidifier base and fill the tank with cool water before replacing. Once the tank is full you can plug in the humidifier and turn the power dial to "On." Some ultrasonic humidifier models allow you to adjust the mist intensity. If you're using a high mist setting, leave the door to the room open to avoid water damage from condensation. When the humidifier is not in use, turn the power dial to "Off," unplug the unit, remove the water tank and set it aside.
Care and Maintenance
-
Proper care and maintenance will help ensure that your ultrasonic humidifier performs at its best. This includes keeping the unit clean and free of mineral buildup. Should the outside of the humidifier need to be cleaned, wipe it with a soft cloth that has been dampened in a solution of mild soap and water. Once a week, clean the inside of the humidifier's water tank with a solution of 1 tsp. bleach in 1 gallon water. Let the solution stand in the tank for 20 minutes, shaking vigorously every five minutes. Rinse the water tank with clean water until the smell of bleach is gone. Performing this maintenance once a week will help inhibit the growth of bacteria that may decrease the performance of your ultrasonic humidifier.
