Microcurrent Effects
Microcurrent therapy, also known as microcurrent electrical neuromuscular stimulation, uses gentle currents of electricity applied to nerves and muscles with the aim of having beneficial effects such as pain reduction, blood cleansing, weight loss facilitation and improved organ function.-
MENS
-
Microcurrent therapy or MENS (Microcurrent Electrical Neuromuscular Stimulation), is based on the premise that the cells in the body are tuned to the subtle exchanges of electrical impulses that take place throughout the body. MENS utilizes the application of extremely low frequency electrical energy (millionths of an amp) to penetrate the cell and stimulate cellular activity and normalizing its effects.
Healing Effects
-
Microcurrent therapy has a number of beneficial effects. It can help reduce pain and inflammation caused by fibromyalgia, arthritis, sarcoidosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibroids, sporting injuries and neuropathy. It also can be used to prevent outbreaks of herpes and reduce the symptoms of shingles.
Tissue Healing
-
If tissue has been injured, the cells within it will have been compromised. Stimulation by means of MENS will increase the cell's energy, improving oxygenation, absorption of nutrients, ion exchange and elimination of toxins. MENS can be used to match the body's own low-level electrical impulses, create healthy cell metabolism and rebalance bodily functions to reduce inflammation, alleviate pain and promote healing of cells and tissue.
Benefits
-
Microcurrent therapy has many of the benefits of acupuncture but without the use of needles. The electrical impulses produced in MENS are so extremely low that patients rarely feel them at all. This means there is no tissue resistance unlike in other forms of electrotherapy, which makes it a more effective treatment. Microcurrent therapy is safe for people of all ages though its use is somewhat controversial as it can occasionally have unpredictable results. Each person reacts differently to MENS and results will vary depending on your age, how long you have suffered from the condition and the state of your overall health. Many patients do notice benefits that become longer lasting over the course of treatment.
Side Effects
-
There have been a number of side-effects reported by people who receive microcurrent therapy treatment. It is believed that this range of side effects is because the stimulation of the cells causes an increased process of detoxification. Side effects may include flu-like symptoms, nausea, headache, fatigue and temporary pain. Side effects may be noticeable within two to four hours of treatment and usually pass within 24 to 48 hours.
