Microcurrent Benefits
Microcurrent therapy is the use of very low currents of electricity to improve health and reduce pain. The therapy utilizes an array of different microcurrent frequencies, each of which is beneficial for the treatment of a specific disorder. Hundreds of practitioners throughout the United States are using this therapy to help their patients.-
Treatment of Shingles and Herpes
-
One of microcurrent therapy's specific frequencies is of particular benefit for the treatment of shingles and herpes. If the treatment begins in the early stages, it helps to combat shingles symptoms by alleviating pain and preventing blisters from breaking out. In herpes outbreaks, microcurrent therapy can help eliminate pain, and just a one-hour treatment can heal blisters within 2 to 4 hours.
Anti-aging
-
Microcurrent facials are believed to significantly inhibit the effects of aging, specifically sagging muscles, loose skin and fine lines and wrinkles. A microcurrent facial is very gentle and applies an extremely low current to the facial muscles, leaving them toned and invigorated. As well as strengthening the facial muscles, a microcurrent facial also helps relax muscles that have become too tight and helps tone underworked muscles.
Pain Management
-
Microcurrents can be applied to injured muscles or areas in which you are experiencing chronic, low-grade pain. The application of varied frequencies helps to alleviate pain and also promotes tissue healing and reduces inflammation. The reduction in pain symptoms is often long-lasting and sometimes permanent.
A Typical Treatment Session
-
During a typical treatment session, you will be sitting or lying in a comfortable position. Your therapist will deliver microcurrent to specific targets on your body depending on the type of treatment you are receiving. In order to apply the microcurrent, the therapist will attach electrodes to your skin and place warm towels over the electrodes to promote conduction. Microcurrents are not strong enough to stimulate sensory nerves, so you will feel no sensations. A course of treatment may involve one or a number of sessions. Microcurrent therapy is FDA approved and is a safe form of treatment. It is however, not recommended for people who have pacemakers.
Side Effects
-
There have been a number of side-effects reported by people who have microcurrent; the most common are nausea, tiredness, flu-like symptoms and a temporary increase in pain. The side effects can start any time during the first 24 hours following a treatment; they usually pass within a day or two. These side effects are said to be caused by the stimulation of metabolism, which causes detoxification.
