See-Clearly Method Exercises

The See-Clearly Method was developed by four people, including two optometrists, who together called themselves the American Vision Institute. The method offers eye exercises to strengthen the eyes and reduce the need for glasses or contacts. The method used to be for sale, but is now being offered as a free download on the American Vision Institute's website. It is now called the Power Vision Program.
  1. Conducting

    • The eye exercises in the program are meant to strengthen and stretch the muscles of your eyes. Although your eyes do move throughout the day, they are not going to be moving in all directions or focusing equally at all distances. Eye exercises pick up the slack. There are three modules, each lasting between 21 and 30 minutes. The program recommends you do one module daily. One of the exercises is called "conducting." You will take an object like a brooch or earring in the palm of your hand and focus on it. Hold the object at arm's length. Examine it closely. Bring it close to your face. Move your hand in different patterns in front of you and follow the object with your eyes. Allow yourself to blink often. You can move it side to side, up and down, or in circular patterns. Switch arms and keep moving the object in different ways as long as you can focus on it.

    Detailing

    • Detailing is another eye exercise recommended by the American Vision Institute. Place a colorful or detailed object at on a table away from you as far as necessary for it to be slightly blurry. Follow its contours with your eyes. Let yourself blink often. Do not squint or strain. Examine the minute details of the object. Look at different sections and try to see the detail within the detail.

    Affirmations

    • Affirmations are an important part of the program. The exercise of using positive affirmations is a form of prayer. Say them out loud or write them down. Positive statements such as "I have naturally healthy vision" are perfect, but use whatever sounds believable to you. Always make affirmations in the present tense. You can also use an object like the one used in the first exercise and write your affirmation in the air. Follow the object closely with your eyes and concentrate.
