Orgone Energy & Its Uses

The forces that drive life, passion and emotions often are dealt with in abstract concepts and speculations. Scientific inquiries often stop short where quantifiable measurements can't be made. Orgone energy is based on a hypothetical construct developed in the early 1900s. It's defined as an all-pervasive energy that contains the forces of life.
  1. Identification

    • The concept surrounding orgone energy was introduced in 1930 by German psychoanalyst Wilhelm Reich. Based on an experimental model, Reich identified an energy present in the atmosphere that he described as "universal life energy." It was described as blue in color and constituted the life force of both animate and inanimate matter. Reich created a device to measure this energy and published the results of his experiments; however, his methods were deemed non-traditional by the scientific community. As a result, the study of orgone energy--or orgonomics--is considered a pseudoscience.

    Orgone Energy Properties

    • Orgone energy is believed to harness the creative force in nature, meaning it is the source for fundamental physical properties like matter, gravity and electromagnetism. Reich associated a number of physical properties to orgone that explain what it is and how it functions. This energy is described as having no mass, or weight, and is present everywhere. It is believed that orgone is constantly moving and changing and can appear in different concentrations depending on the space. This energy can be controlled and manipulated through the use of specialized devices. Unlike heat energy, orgone doesn't dissipate but attracts more of the same and is capable "growing" into both living and non-living forms of matter.

    Function

    • Methods to make use of orgone energy are practiced within a branch of psychotherapy called orgone therapy. Orgone therapy focuses on how this energy moves through the body. Energy blockages are believed to result from mental and emotional duress experienced by individuals. Orgone energy is portrayed as a contracting-constricting pulse within the body. The health of the body and mind is dependent on the system's ability to move freely between these contracting-constricting pulses through which orgone energy circulates.

    Anchoring

    • Within orgone therapy, anchoring is described as a condition that develops within the body, caused by feelings of ongoing stress and anxiety. Anchoring occurs when an individual has an overdeveloped sense of boundaries between himself and others. These mental and physical boundaries work to restrict the movement of orgone through the body, causing life force energy to decline. Individuals in this state are believed to project most of their life energy inward (constricting), with very little energy being expressed outward (contracting). The purpose of orgone therapy is to redirect and balance the energy paths within the body.

    Orgone Energy Devices

    • Psychotronics is a technology that specializes in creating devices designed to harness and direct orgone energy. These devices can be used to balance the body's energy flow and promote a balanced pulse within the system. They also work to generate life force energy from the Earth's natural field, which can then be transferred into the body. It is believed that once a person's system is properly balanced, it's able to generate, or attract, these energies on its own. A balanced flow is believed to enhance a person's physical, mental and emotional health while eliminating negative energies and materials that can build up inside the body's system.
