On May 9, 2007, Indiana became the 38th state to regulate massage when Governor Mitch Daniels signed into law Senate Bill 320, the massage therapy state certification bill. The law went into effect on July 1, 2007. Today, you can verify which massage therapists are certified online.

  Enter the url for Indiana's Professional Licensing Agency's website into your browser (www.in.gov/pla/massage.htm).

  Locate "Online Services" on the top-right of the page. Click "Search and Verify License." This will display a page for you to enter the information about the therapist whose license you would like to verify.

  Click on the down arrow in the box next to "Profession" and select "Massage Therapy Board" from the drop-down list.

  Click on the down arrow in the box next to "License Type." Select "Massage Therapist" from the drop-down list.

  Enter the first name of the therapist in the box next to "First/Mid Name."

  Enter the last name of the therapist in the box next to "Last Name."

  Leave the "License Number" box blank, since this information may not be available to you.

  Select "All" from the drop-down list next to "Status."

  Leave the boxes for "County" and "City" blank, since this information is not necessary to return a result.

  Select "IN" for Indiana from the drop-down list next to "State."

  Leave the box for "Zipcode" blank.
