How to Heal Leaky Gut Syndrome

Leaky gut syndrome is a serious condition in which the walls of the small intestines become permeable to toxins created within the body. This allows the toxins to enter the bloodstream and cause serious problems. Leaky gut syndrome can be caused by several different factors, among them stress, or using large quantities of ibuprofen or other NSAIDs. People with leaky gut syndrome often suffer from severe cramping and almost constant diarrhea. In order to cure the problem you must restore the balance of good and bad bacteria in your digestive system and you must heal all of the holes in the walls of your small intestines. Fortunately your body can accomplish both of these goals with just a bit of help from you.

Instructions

    • 1

See your doctor, chiropractor or alternative health care practitioner and have yourself tested for leaky gut syndrome if you suspect this is what you may have. Today most medical doctors will test for leaky gut syndrome, although there are still those who do not recognize this as a valid disease.

    • 2

Stop taking pain killers such as ibuprofen and any other NSAIDs. Stop smoking and do not drink any alcohol products.

    • 3

Remove all caffeine, sugar, high fat foods (this includes most fast food), white flour products, gluten-containing grains such as wheat, barley and oats, milk and dairy products and any foods to which you may be allergic from your diet.

    • 4

Eat lean meat, fish, chicken, fruits and vegetables and fruit and vegetable juices (without added sugar or other additives).

    • 5

Chew food very thoroughly so your digestive tract has less work to do. Eat several (6 to 8) small meals a day as opposed to 3 larger meals.
