Facial Exercises for Aging Nose Cartilage
As we age, parts of our face don't retain the elasticity we once had when we were young. As a result our face sags and the youthful appearance gradually fades away. Besides surgery there is not a quick-fix cure to prevent facial sag. Despite this, there are exercises you can do that involve the muscles around the nose to slow down the sagging cartilage.-
Pointing Your Nose Up
-
This exercise is designed to work the tip of the nose if it points down. To begin take your index finger and press it up against the tip of your nose so that it points up. Now while keeping your finger and nose in this position, try to bring your upper lip down so that it covers the teeth. The upward position of your nose and the action of bringing your upper lip down will stretch the tip of your nose. Do this exercise for 20 repetitions three times a day to achieve optimum results.
Nostril Flaring
-
Nostril flaring exercises the muscles associated with the nostrils. Wrinkle your nose and make a face like you just smelled something disgusting. When you do this your nostrils will flare out. Relax your face once your nostrils have flared. Flare your nostrils once per second. Make a wide smile if you find this is easier to flare your nose. This will not only work out the nose but the cheek muscles as well. Do this exercise for 20 repetitions three times a day.
Massage
-
To exercise the bridge of your nose, place your index and middle fingers of both hands on each side of the bridge. Using a little pressure, massage in an upward and downward motion. Work your way up and massage the upper part of the bridge and the space between the eyebrows.
