How to Make Colloidal Silver Gel

Colloidal silver is the term commonly used to describe a solution of water, silver particles, and silver ions. The small amounts of silver present in the solution have a deadly, instantly germicidal effect on bacteria, making colloidal silver gel a wise choice for the treatment of injuries such as abrasions and burns. Although it's highly effective, colloidal silver gel can be cost prohibitive. By following the steps outlined here, you can make your own for a fraction of the pharmacy cost.

Instructions

    • 1

Obtain a 6 volt direct current transformer from a local electronics shop or online. The current is irrelevant because the process outlined here only requires ½ miliampere and even a small 6 volt transformer generally has between 200 and 800 miliamperes. Alternatively, for the more science minded individual, a series of four 1 ½ volt flashlight batteries can be used as a power source.

    • 2

Remove the connection piece from the end of the transformer wire with sharp scissors or wire clippers.

    • 3

Buy or salvage two metal alligator clips.

    • 4

Unwind the two connection wires gently. Remove the protective outer covering to reveal approximately 1 inch of bare wire.

    • 5

Connect each exposed wire to an alligator clip by tightly twisting it around the inside of the clip near the spring end.

    • 6

Create your electrodes. If you live near a coin shop, purchase two Canadian Silver Maple Leaf coins or order them from an online dealer. The coins are symbolic and .999 percent pure with each coin containing 1 1/5 of an ounce of silver. This will provide you with more than enough silver for the creation of a large quantity of colloidial gel. Additionally, the coins are excellent conductors of electricity and will function well as your electrodes.

    • 7

Purchase one gallon of pure, distilled water and allow the water to come to room temperature.

    • 8

Go to a pet store and buy the smallest aquarium oxygenation machine they have in stock. Also purchase approximately two feet of neoprene tubing sized to fit the aquatic bubbler. The introduction of extra oxygen to the water is absolutely essential to the process.

    • 9

Clean the coins thoroughly to remove any residue or debris and then attach them to the sides of an 8 ounce glass with the wired alligator clips. Position the coins so they are directly opposite each other.

    • 10

Insert the tubing into the glass, positioning it so that it rests on the bottom.

    • 11

Pour distilled water into the glass until the water level is just below the clips. Keep the metal from the alligator clips out of the water while the coins are partially submerged.

    • 12

Plug in and turn on the aquarium oxygenation machine and the transformer.

    • 13

Allow the machines to run for 5 to 6 hours and then turn them both off.

    • 14

Disconnect the coins with care because they will be coated with residue. Rough handling can introduce unwanted elements into your solution.

    • 15

Cover the glass or jar with plastic cling film and store the colloidal silver solution in a dark place for approximately one hour.

    • 16

Place 1/2 cup of aloe vera gel into a clean bowl. Add 3 tablespoons of silver solution and stir well.

    • 17

Place the gel in an opaque container and store it in a cool place out of direct sunlight for up to two months.
