What do you need to become a physical therapy aide?
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Certifications:
- Certified Physical Therapist Aide (CPTA) from the National Association of Physical Therapy Assistants (NAPTA)
Experience:
- Some states require physical therapy aides to have at least one year of experience working in a healthcare setting under the supervision of a physical therapist.
Skills:
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to lift and move patients
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology
- Understanding of physical therapy procedures and treatments
Additional Requirements:
- Some states require physical therapy aides to be at least 18 years old.
- Some states require physical therapy aides to pass a criminal background check.
