How to Use a Mirror Box
A mirror box is a type of physical therapy device used for Mirror Visualization Therapy to help rehabilitate a person who has injured a limb. According to Dr. Ilan Lieberman, Mirror Visualization Therapy uses the box to trick the brain into thinking that the non-working limb works fine. The box helps those with several injuries including recovering from a stroke and reflex sympathetic dystrophy. The box is also designed to help those who suffer with phantom limb pain.Instructions

1
Unfold the mirror box.
-
2
Place the injured hand or foot inside the mirror box so it's hidden inside, away from view.
-
3
Place your working hand or foot outside the mirror box so its reflection may be seen in the mirror.
-
4
Flex and move your working limb with movements the therapist has given you. While looking at the mirror, try and get your injured limb to mimic the movements simultaneously with your working limb.
-
5
Repeat the movements as many times as your physical therapist has requested.
