Do you have to a degree be physical therapy assistant?

In order to become a physical therapy assistant (PTA), you will need to complete an accredited physical therapist assistant education program and earn an associate degree. The accredited PTA education programs are typically offered at community colleges or technical schools and take approximately two years to complete.

The majority of states in the United States require PTAs to be licensed in order to practice. To become licensed, you will need to pass the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE), which is administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT). Once licensed, you will also be required to complete continuing education courses to maintain your license.

In some cases, you may be able to become a PTA without a degree by completing a certification program. However, these programs are not as common and may not be recognized by all states. If you are interested in becoming a PTA, it is best to complete an accredited education program to ensure that you meet all of the requirements.
