How to Ease Fibromyalgia with Reflexology Treatments

Fibromyalgia is a condition that can be very painful and cause fatigue. Techniques in reflexology can help you ease symptoms, reduce pain and have more energy. Reflexology is an ancient healing form of massage that stimulates the pressure points of the feet to stimulate nerve endings and ease tension in the body. If you have fibromyalgia, using reflexology on your feet can be a holistic form of treatment, though you should continue the medical treatments you receive from your doctor.

Instructions

  1. Reflexology Points for Fibromyalgia

    • 1

Use the reflexology foot chart to find the areas on your feet that are associated with areas of your body affected by fibromyalgia. Practice finding these spots on your feet before you begin applying the pressure.

    • 2

Find a stool or other kind of chair to set your foot on comfortably and use the towel to drape over the top of the stool to keep it clean.

    • 3

Apply a small amount of oil or lotion to your hands and rub it into the foot completely, letting it absorb.

    • 4

Use the thumb to apply upward motions along the spine, elbow, hip and knee reflexes and over the shoulder reflexes. Apply enough pressure to stimulate the points, but don't use excessive pressure.

    • 5

Use your thumb to perform gentle massaging motions over the reflexes and over the entire foot to promote the release of tension.

    • 6

Use the towel to remove any lotion or oil on the foot, and repeat the same process for the other foot.
