I had gotten 5ml of glutathione injected on both hands. 8 months later was diagnosed with vitiligo. Luckily 80 percent it has healed. Can injection trigger or cause vitiligo?

There is no scientific evidence to suggest that glutathione injections can directly cause or trigger vitiligo. Vitiligo is an autoimmune condition in which the body's immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys the pigment-producing cells (melanocytes) in the skin and hair, leading to the development of white patches.

Several factors, including genetics, immune system dysfunction, oxidative stress, and certain environmental triggers, are believed to play a role in the development of vitiligo. However, glutathione, which is an antioxidant, has not been implicated as a specific causative factor for vitiligo.

In your case, it is important to discuss with your healthcare provider the potential reasons behind the development of vitiligo. It could be due to a combination of factors, including your individual susceptibility, genetic predisposition, or other potential triggers unrelated to the glutathione injections. A proper medical evaluation can help identify the underlying cause and recommend appropriate treatment options for your vitiligo.
