Blood urine point-of-care test A=50 means that there are 50 red blood cells per high power field (HPF) in the urine. This is considered to be hematuria, or blood in the urine. Hematuria can have many causes, including urinary tract infection, kidney disease, and trauma. This may indicate an underlying issue with the pet’s kidney functionality which may necessitate additional examination such as bloodwork and or radiographs or ultrasound. It is important to see a veterinarian if your pet has blood in their urine to determine the cause and receive appropriate treatment.
