Is cubital and antecubital fossa the same?

The cubital fossa and antecubital fossa are not the same. The antecubital fossa is the depression on the front of the elbow, while the cubital fossa is the triangular depression or hollow at the back of the elbow. The antecubital fossa is bounded by the biceps brachii muscle, the brachialis muscle, and the supinator muscle, while the cubital fossa is bounded by the triceps brachii muscle, the brachioradialis muscle, and the anconeus muscle. The antecubital fossa is the preferred site for intravenous injections and blood draws, while the cubital fossa is commonly used to assess the quality of the brachial pulse and to inject local anesthetic for certain types of forearm surgery.
