What is a tapeworm body segmant called?
A tapeworm body segment is called a proglottid. Proglottids are small, individual segments that make up the body of a tapeworm. Each proglottid contains a complete set of reproductive organs, and as the tapeworm grows, new proglottids are continually produced at the neck region. The oldest proglottids, located at the tail end of the tapeworm, detach and are passed out with the feces. Each proglottid can contain thousands of eggs, which can then develop into new tapeworms if ingested by a suitable intermediate host.
