What do you if your belly button piercing is infected?

1. Clean the piercing.

- Wash your hands thoroughly with antibacterial soap and water before touching your piercing.

- Use a cotton swab soaked in saline solution to gently clean the piercing and remove any crust or discharge.

- Repeat this process 2-3 times daily.

2. Apply an antiseptic cream.

- After cleaning the piercing, apply a thin layer of an antiseptic cream, such as Neosporin or Bactine.

- Be sure to avoid using any creams that contain alcohol, as this can irritate the piercing.

3. Bandage the piercing.

- Cover the piercing with a sterile bandage to help protect it from dirt and bacteria.

- Change the bandage daily.

4. Avoid touching the piercing.

- Avoid touching or playing with the piercing, as this can introduce bacteria and increase the risk of infection.

5. Avoid swimming.

- Avoid swimming in pools, lakes, or other bodies of water, as this can also introduce bacteria and increase the risk of infection.

6. Take pain relievers.

- If you are experiencing pain, you can take over-the-counter pain relievers, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen, to help relieve discomfort.

7. See a doctor.

- If your piercing does not improve within a few days, or if you experience any of the following symptoms, you should see a doctor:
