How to Identify Bed Bug Bites

1
Think about when you first noticed the bites. If you are scratching when you wake up or before you go to work, the bites probably are due to bedbugs.
-
2
Inspect the bites. Because bedbugs are small and live in groups, the bites typically occur in bunches. One bite on your neck or knee might just be from an ant or spider. But if there are four or five bites in the same general vicinity, it is probably bedbugs.
-
3
Look at where the bites are. Bedbugs are not likely to crawl all over your body, so the bites probably will be in areas that rest directly on the bed, such as legs, back and arms. If you have bites on your chest or face, they probably are caused by a different insect.
-
4
Look closely at the bites. Many bedbug bites have small red spots in the middle because the bug feeds on your blood. Not all bites have these spots but, if some of yours do, there is a good chance the bites are from bedbugs.
