1
Combine water and unscented soap to form a lather in your hands. Pat the lather onto the hives. Rinse with cool water. This will clean the area.
-
2
Take an over-the-counter oral antihistamine to help reduce the swelling and discomfort. Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration and to flush your body of the bed bug secretions causing the allergic reaction.
-
3
Remain calm. Seeing bed bug bites and hives can be alarming. Getting upset will increase your heart rate and get your blood flowing, making the hives worse.
-
4
Fill your bathtub half full of lukewarm water. Pour one package of powdered oatmeal, made specially for bathing, into the tub. Soak in the oatmeal water for 10 to 20 minutes. Pat, don't rub, your skin dry or air-dry your body.
