How to Draw Venom Out of a Bee Sting

A bee will sting when it comes in contact with a threat. Once the bee's stinger enters the body, it expels venom from a sac into the skin. It is the venom that leads to a reaction, which in some people is mild and life threatening to others. Drawing out the bee's venom with a homemade salve will help lessen the affects of the venom, resulting in less redness, irritation and pain.

Instructions

    • 1

Scrape at the sting gently with a credit card or any other hard piece of plastic. This will remove the stinger without causing the venom sac to burst under the skin.

    • 2

Pour one tablespoon distilled water and one-fourth teaspoon lavender essential oil into a small bowl. The lavender will help soothe the discomfort associated with bee stings.

    • 3

Add one-fourth cup baking soda to the bowl. Stir the mixture and add distilled water until a paste consistency is reached.

    • 4

Apply a thick layer of the paste directly onto the sting and allow it to remain for 10 to 15 minutes.

    • 5

Rinse away the baking soda paste with warm water. As the baking soda paste dries it will draw the venom out of the sting.
