Why do dogs not get strep throat?

This is not true, dogs can indeed get strep throat.

Dogs can indeed get strep throat, caused by the same Streptococcus pyogenes bacteria that affects humans. Although less common in dogs compared to humans, canine strep throat can cause similar symptoms such as sore throat, difficulty swallowing, fever, lethargy, and loss of appetite. However, the clinical signs of strep throat in dogs may vary, and in some cases, they may be mild or go unnoticed.

It's important to note that while dogs can get strep throat, the strains of bacteria that cause the infection in dogs are usually different from those commonly seen in humans. Additionally, transmission of strep throat between humans and dogs is considered rare.
