Yellow puss from wisdom teeth being cut out?
It's normal to experience some yellow discharge from the wisdom teeth extraction site after the procedure. This discharge is a combination of blood, saliva, and tissue debris.
Here's what you should expect:
- Immediately after the procedure: You may experience some bleeding and a small amount of yellow discharge. This is normal and should subside within a few hours.
- The next day: You may notice increased yellow discharge. This is also normal and is part of the healing process.
- Over the next few days: The discharge may gradually decrease in amount and become lighter in color.
However, if you experience any of the following symptoms, you should contact your dentist immediately:
- Severe pain that does not improve with over-the-counter pain medication
- Swelling that does not improve within 24 hours
- Difficulty breathing or swallowing
- Fever or chills
- Redness or pus at the extraction site
- Persistent bad taste or odor in the mouth
These could indicate an infection or other complication that requires treatment.
