Who can get tapeworm?
Tapeworm infections can occur in both humans and animals. Humans can become infected by ingesting contaminated food or water, or by coming into contact with infected animals. The most common type of tapeworm infection in humans is caused by the pork tapeworm (Taenia solium), which is acquired by eating undercooked or raw pork. Beef tapeworm (Taenia saginata) infections can occur from consuming undercooked beef, while fish tapeworm (Diphyllobothrium latum) infections can be acquired from eating raw fish.
