Can you get ringworms from sand?
Ringworms or tinea infections are caused by fungi that live on the dead tissues of the human skin, hair and nails. Hence, it cannot be obtained through sand.
They thrive on warm, moist environments and are contagious. Tinea typically spreads through direct skin-to-skin contact or indirect contact with contaminated objects or surfaces.
Ringworms can be spread through:

- Touching or coming in contact with infected animals.
- Walking barefoot in public areas, such as swimming pools, locker rooms or gyms.
