How to Make Your Own Flea Repellent With Citronella Oil
Citronella oil is an inexpensive, safe insect repellent. The Environmental Protection Agency classifies citronella oil as a biopesticide with a "non-toxic mode of action,' which means it has no intentionally toxic ingredients to kill fleas and other bloodsuckers. Instead, the smell of citronella drives the insects away. This makes it safer to use than chemical insecticides such as DEET. Pure citronella oil can be a skin irritant, so it must be diluted before use.Things You'll Need
