Repellents

1
Spray your skin with a DEET-containing insect repellent. DEET (N-Diethyl-3-Methylbenzamide) gets rid of mozzies for two to ten hours.
-
2
Treat your clothes, shoes, and bed linens with permethrin-containing products. Permethrin is highly effective in killing or getting rid of mozzies.
-
3
Light a candle that contains oil of citronella. The vapor from the smoke gets rid of mozzies.
Eradication
-
4
Place a Bug Zapper outside the door of your home. The Bug Zapper will attract mosquitoes with a black light and electrocute them.
-
5
Wipe and drain any unneeded water sources. Female mosquitoes lay eggs in standing water. Removing water sources will eliminate areas to lay eggs.
-
6
Add methoprene to external water sources. Methoprene is toxic to mosquitoes. Methoprene is safe for fish, birds, and mammals. Use only as directed.
-
7
Attach a cyfluthrin solution to a water hose. Spray areas where there are large populations of mosquitoes. Cyfluthrin is toxic to mosquitoes.
