How to Kill a Mosquito While It Is Biting You

Mosquitoes are one of summer's few drawbacks. Although usually more annoying than harmful, mosquitoes in the United States have transmitted illnesses, such as West Nile Virus. In other parts of the world with tropical environments, mosquitoes transmit Malaria. Killing a mosquito mid-bite has a certain vengeful pleasure and is easier to accomplish than killing a mosquito mid-air. As with any insect that feeds on human blood, certain safety precautions are necessary to prevent spreading disease.

Instructions

Wait a few seconds until after the mosquito lands on your skin before swatting. Mosquitoes don't sting instantaneously, they land, settle and finally insert their stinger. Premature swatting could cause the mosquito to fly away before attaching to your skin.

    • 2

Smack the mosquito quickly with your skin, using your open palm and closed fingers. Fast reflexes, not forceful slapping, are necessary given the delicate structure of a mosquito.

    • 3

Wipe away the dead mosquito and any residual blood using an alcohol-soaked cotton ball. If the mosquito bit others recently, the blood on your skin is a combination of his previous victims. Discard the cotton ball after use.
