Lindane Side Effects
Lindane is used to cure lice and scabies. Also known as Benzene hexachloride or Gamma hexachlorocyclohexane, Lindane is only prescribed if you have tried other medications and they have not worked. It can cause serious side effects.-

As reported to the FDA, after a second treatment of Lindane or if too much Lindane is used, in rare cases it can cause seizures and even death. It has also been reported that an estimated 1 million new Lindane prescriptions have been written each year.
Side Effects

Lindane may cause skin rashes, itching or burning skin, dry skin, and numbness or tingling of the skin and even hair loss. Although uncommon, some side effects may also include headaches, drowsiness, and dizziness.
Alternative Medications

There are several alternatives to using Lindane, per the FDA, to treat scabies and lice such as Crotamiton cream & lotion, Peremethrin cream & rinse, used for head and pubic lice, and Malathion lotion. These medications are recommended before patients are prescribed Lindane.
Risks

You should be aware that if you suffer from HIV or Aids, consume a lot of alcohol or if you have recently stopped drinking alcohol, have liver disease, diabetes, or if you have had any head trauma, seizures, or brain tumors, you have a very high risk of serious side effects from using Lindane.
Warnings

When using Lindane never use a second application too soon after the first use. Always use Lindane as directed by your health care provider, and never apply too much Lindane to your skin, as these mistakes can result in serious consequences.
