How to Talk With Dentures
After getting your first pair of dentures, you may experience a challenge speaking. Each person's experience is different, but even though it seems difficult at first, most people get used to their dentures within a few weeks. During this period, many denture wearers use a fixative, though these creams should only be used for a limited time period, according to the Confederation of Dental Employers. The cream can also help reduce soreness that usually comes along with wearing new dentures.Instructions

1
Read aloud in front of a mirror to get used to speaking clearly. The more you practice with your new teeth, the better you will become.
-
2
Emphasize sounds that you are having trouble with when you are reading. Go over a sentence a few times, if you are mispronouncing sounds.
-
3
Try tongue twisters. For example, if you need to work on the letter "S" in your speech; repeat a rhyme such as "Sally sells sea shells by the seashore."
-
4
Speak slowly at first, to help reduce muffling. Other unwanted sounds might include whistling and a thick speech, meaning it takes a long time to form a word.
-
5
Avoid moving parts of your mouth and tongue that cause your dentures to move out of place and click. Though it might seem unnatural at first, the movements of your mouth that you were used to when you had teeth might not be appropriate anymore.
