1
Gather all supplies including scissors, plastic bags, plastic gloves and nit comb. You will be giving yourself a haircut. Salons have the right to refuse service to anyone, and they will most likely not provide a haircut to someone who has a lice infestation. The salon does not want to jeopardize other customers. Call ahead and discuss the issue with a stylist prior to making an appointment, however, do not be surprised if she refuses.

2
Wash hair with shampoo and conditioner.
-
3
Comb hair out using the fine toothed nit comb. Ask a friend or family member to help you, but have them put on plastic gloves when dealing with your hair.
-
4
Tie a rubber band around the hair at the nape of the neck, or the desired spot in which you want to cut.
-
5
Ask your helper to cut the hair as evenly as possible.
-
6
Immediately dispose of the hair in a sealed plastic bag.
-
7
Begin the process of removing nits. If you do not eliminate the nits, the lice will re-infest your hair. Now that the hair is shorter, using the nit comb will be easier.
-
8
Continue using the nit comb until the nits and lice are completely eliminated. Once your scalp is free of these pests you can go to a stylist who can professionally cut your hair.
