Does a barn spider die after giving birth?
Barn spiders do not die after giving birth, unlike some other insect species like the black widow spider. After mating, a female barn spider will lay a single egg sac that contains hundreds of spiderlings. She will spin a protective cocoon around the egg sac and guard it until the spiderlings hatch. Once they hatch, the spiderlings will disperse and the mother will not provide any further care for them. She may live for a few more months after giving birth and may even produce another egg sac during that time.
