Things You'll Need
- Tweezers
- Soap
- Water
- Cup
- Rubbing alcohol
- Antiseptic
Instructions
-
-
1
Clean the tweezers with soap and warm water to make sure they are sterile.
-
2
Grab on to the tick with the tweezers. Aim for the tick's head or mouth.
-
3
Pull the tick out quickly and with precision, in one straight motion. Don't turn and twist the tick, as that will only make the parasite go deeper into your skin.
-
4
Put the tick in a cup of rubbing alcohol immediately once you remove it. This will kill the parasite. Dispose of the dead tick in the garbage or flush it down the toilet.
-
5
Clean the wound with an antiseptic.
-
6
Call your doctor to make an appointment for a blood test. It is better to be safe than sorry when it comes to potential Lyme disease infection.
