How to Remove a Small Tick

Ticks are mites that carry diseases. To a tick, any warm blooded body will do. When they attach to an animal or a human they suck your blood. When you see one attached, remove it quickly. They can give dogs, cats and humans Lyme disease. This disease can be very debilitating if not treated. Check your pets regularly for ticks. Your pets can't infect you, but they can carry the ticks inside to you.

Instructions

    • 1

Put on rubber gloves. This will keep your skin from touching the tick and protect you from Lyme disease.

    • 2

Use tweezers to pull the tick off. Grab the tick as close to the skin as possible and lightly pull backward. Pull straight back, do not twist or turn. According to Natural Wonder Pets, twisting can possibly cause tick saliva to go into the blood stream.

      Put alcohol on the bite.

Clean the wound with alcohol and a cotton swab. Then wash with soap and water and reapply alcohol. Drown the tick in alcohol when you have removed it. When it is dead, flush it down the toilet.
