Does your brain have a layer of fat around it?

The brain does indeed have a layer of fat around it, known as the arachnoid membrane. This membrane, composed of adipose tissue and connective tissue, sits between the dura mater (the tough outer layer of the meninges) and the pia mater (the innermost layer of the meninges). It serves multiple important functions, including providing additional cushioning and protection for the brain, aiding in the distribution of nutrients and oxygen to brain tissue, and helping to regulate intracranial pressure.
