Is a mammary gland an endocrine gland?

Yes, the mammary glands are considered to be both exocrine and endocrine glands.

As exocrine glands, they produce and secrete milk to nourish infants. The milk is released through the nipples.

However, the mammary glands also have endocrine functions. They secrete hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, and prolactin, which play important roles in regulating breast development, milk production, and other aspects of female reproductive physiology.
