University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center

• The MD Anderson Cancer Center, according to its website, has been in operation for more than 60 years, and throughout this time the medical teams at this center have treated more than 800,000 patients. In 2008, the MD Anderson Cancer Center provided more than $208 million in cancer care to Texans who could not afford treatments. Also more than $488 million has been devoted to researching various cancer treatments.

  The facilities that incorporate MD Anderson Cancer Center are comprised of more than 25 buildings within the Houston area. These buildings house 507 beds with an expansion that will provide 200 additional beds. There are five research complexes as well as three outpatient clinics.
