Home Remedies for Cancer Patients

The effectiveness of any remedy for cancer depends on the type of cancer involved and how it has developed. Cancer in some organs (like the lungs) is more lethal than cancer in others (like the skin). Some cancers are concentrated in one place and are thus more easily treated, while others are malignant and have spread throughout an entire region of the body. Some home remedies exist that can be administered alone or in conjunction with conventional ones and possibly improve the patient's condition.
  1. Garlic

    • When it comes to skin cancer in particular, garlic may be the best home remedy available. Cut a slice of the herb and press it over the affected area. With skin cancer, the cancerous growth may actually fall off. Secure the slice of garlic to the skin with some sort of adhesive, like gauze or tape. Put the garlic in place as soon as you wake up every morning, then remove it before retiring to bed (and after rinsing off the area with water). This should be repeated for three days--but no longer, as your skin may begin to burn. If a part of the skin cancer growth remains, try the garlic again in a few days.

    Aloe vera

    • Consider using fresh aloe vera leaves or some aloe vera extract, which contains ace mannan, an active immune system stimulant. Aloe vera is said to have the ability to treat skin diseases, bruises and burns, and to generally promote healing and soothing anywhere that it is administered on the body. For those going through radiation therapy (a common conventional cancer treatment), aloe vera, rubbed into the skin of the affected area, can help heal radiation burn.

    Omega-3 Fatty Acids

    • Omega-3 fatty acids have been shown to inhibit all kinds of cancer--particularly breast cancer. Omega-3 fatty acids help reduce inflammation throughout the body, and are generally known not only for their cancer-inhibiting abilities but also for their cancer-preventative qualities. One of the best sources of Omega-3 fatty acids: flaxseed oil. Other sources include walnuts, salmon, soybeans, halibut, shrimp, tofu, snapper, scallops and winter squash.
