What is central disc bulge in L4-L5 and L5-S1?

Central disc bulge is a condition in which the central portion of an intervertebral disc protrudes向后(toward the back) into the spinal canal. It can occur at any level of the spine, but is most common in the lower back, specifically between the fourth and fifth lumbar vertebrae (L4-L5) and between the fifth lumbar vertebra and the first sacral vertebra (L5-S1).

A central disc bulge can put pressure on the nearby spinal nerves, causing pain, numbness, and weakness in the lower back, buttocks, and legs. It can also lead to difficulty with walking and balance.

Treatment for a central disc bulge typically involves conservative measures such as rest, ice, heat, and pain medication. In some cases, physical therapy or chiropractic care may be helpful. If the symptoms are severe or persistent, surgery may be necessary to remove the protruding disc material.
