How large is a vertebrae?

Vertebrae are the individual bones that make up the spine. Their size can vary greatly depending on the species of animal. For example, the vertebrae of a mouse may be only a few millimeters in length, while those of a whale may be over a meter long. Generally speaking, the vertebrae of humans are around 2.5 to 5 centimeters in diameter.
