How to Smoke Dried Fruits
Dried or dehydrated fruits are acquired tastes, but if you like them you can make them with ease at home. This adds flavor to otherwise ordinary fruit flavors, which gives you a little bit of variation if you enjoy healthy dried fruit snacks. Using a standard home grill, you can smoke your dried and dehydrated fruit snacks, making delicious flavors of your own in your own backyard. These smoked fruit snacks travel well and may even be enjoyed by the entire family.Things You'll Need
- Two Aluminum pie tins
- Smoke briquettes
- BBQ cooker
- 2 cups dehydrated fruit

Prepare the grill, whether it's charcoal or gas. If it's charcoal, simply use 2 cups of charcoal and light them. Otherwise, heat the gas grill to 350 degrees following the usage instructions for your cooker. Let the grill get hot for 30 minutes.

Add about 1 cup of aroma-infused briquettes to one of the pie tins. Place the pie tin on the far right side of the grill. The flavor of briquettes you use is up to you. These items can be found in grocery stores or in camping supply stores.

Add about 2 cups of water to the tin briquettes. Let them soak for about two hours.

Add the dried fruit to the other pie tin. Select fruit varieties like apricots, bananas and others. Even some nuts are good for this project.

Place the fruit tin to the far left side of the grill.

Cover the grill and leave it closed for 30 minutes. This traps that smoked flavor into the fruit.
