How Not to Be Sick on Chemotherapy
Chemotherapy kills the cancer cells as well as your white blood cells. White blood cells help the body fight away infections and sickness. Common side effects of chemotherapy are nausea, vomiting, hair loss and infections. Stocking your kitchen with fluids and dry foods can help ease the nausea so you can focus on getting through the treatment.Instructions

Stay hydrated. Drink plenty of water and juice all day to help with the nausea and vomiting. Nausea is a common side effect of chemotherapy. Liquids will help the body stay hydrated. Along with the juice and water, eat crackers or toast to help ease the stomach upset.

2
Avoid public places and crowds. With your weakened immune system your body is less able to fight off germs, common colds or flu. If this cannot be avoided, carry antibacterial wipes and hand sanitizer with you and use frequently. Wash hands throughout the day, especially after touching high-traffic areas or public restrooms.

Strengthen your immune system through exercise. Walking or any light exercise circulates the blood and promotes a healthy immune system. Endorphins that are released during exercise help heal the body and mind. Eating fruits and vegetables along with whole grains can also give the body the necessary nutrients that have been depleted during chemotherapy.

Avoid alcohol and cigarettes. These substances do not promote a healthy immune system and a healthy liver. Liver function needs to be fully working in order help the body recover from chemotherapy.
