How to Use Chemo-Safe Needles

Grab hold of the wings on either side of the needle using your thumb and middle finger. Place your index finger between the wings to rest on top of the safety hinge. Press the needle through the port opening until it reaches the floor of the chemo port.

Raise the needle trap upward in a 90-degree angle. Hold the safety hinge with the thumb and middle finger on your opposite hand.

Push lightly on the safety hinge against the patient's skin and port. Turn the safety syringe towards the needle trap to lock it into the safe position.
