Homeopathic Methods for Colon Cancer
Colon cancer primarily affects your large intestines, particularly the lower part of your digestive tract. Colon cancer is characterized by the development of adenomatous, noncancerous polyps that become cancer when left untreated. The early stages of the condition often present no symptoms. Later symptoms include a change in bowel movements, blood in your stools, rectal bleeding, abdominal pain, fatigue, weakness and weight loss. Some homeopathic methods can combat the symptoms of colon cancer.-
Diagnosis and Treatment
-
Visit your doctor if you experience irregular bowel movements or any unusual changes in your bowels. To prevent colon cancer, see your physician once a year after the age of 50 for regular screening. Your doctor may conduct blood tests to assess the functioning of your organs and to collect a blood count. You may also need a colonoscopy, which involves the insertion of a long, thin tube into the rectum and colon. The tube has a lens that allows the doctor to see the condition of your colon and to spot any potential cancerous conditions. The suspected cancerous tissues will then be biopsied and examined in a laboratory.
Your doctor may also perform X-rays after you use a barium enema, a dye solution used to see your colon with greater clarity. CT scans are also performed to examine the colon. If you are diagnosed with colon cancer, the physician will perform tests on the cancerous tissue to determine the stage of your cancer. You may require laparoscopic surgery to remove the tissue or a colectomy, which involves the removal of part of the colon. Your surgery may be followed up with radiation and chemotherapy, depending on the stage of your cancer and your condition.
Bryonia
-
Bryonia is a homeopathic remedy for constipation relief. In "Homeopathic Remedies: A Quick and Easy Guide to Common Disorders and Their Homeopathic Treatments," Asa Hershoff explains that Bryonia can alleviate constipation that is characterized by extremely dry, hard-to-pass stools. Consume Byronia 30c, a medium-potency remedy, one to two times daily to treat constipation. Suck or chew two pills with each dose. Allow a few days for the treatment to take effect. Hershoff also asserts that the use of Bryonia should be supplemented with adequate fibers and fluids as well as probiotics like acidophilus and bifidus bacteria to regulate the intestinal tract and to re-establish the balance of healthy bacteria in your digestive system.
Lycopodium
-
Hershoff cites Lycopodium as a homeopathic treatment for constipation involving hard, large or bulky stools. Take three tablets of Lycopodium 30c, a medium-potency remedy, one to two times daily to treat constipation issues. Dissolve the tablets under your tongue with each dosage. Lycopodium also treats irritable bowels and abdominal pain that may accompany your condition.
