Signs & Symptoms of Colonic Cancer
-
Changes
-
Changes in bowel habits over a period of more than two weeks may indicate colon cancer. This includes if you experience constipation, diarrhea or a different stool consistency in your stool.
Pain
-
Cramps and abdominal pain may point to colon cancer. The pain would occur when you're having a bowel movement. It may also be accompanied by gas.
Bleeding
-
Seek a doctor's advice if you experience rectal bleeding or notice there is blood in your stool. Colon cancer could be the culprit.
Considerations
-
Additional symptoms or signs of colonic cancer include weight loss that can't be explained, a weak or tired feeling and a feeling that your bowel is not emptying completely.
Identification
-
It's important to note that bloody stool can point to other conditions as well as colonic cancer. If there is bright red blood present, it most likely is caused by minor tears in the anus or hemorrhoids. Certain foods and supplements can also change the color of your stool.
Warning
-
Talk to a doctor if you notice any blood in your stool or changes to its consistency. The key to treating colonic cancer effectively is to catch it as early as possible.
