Schedule your colonoscopy for the morning. You are going to be on a clear liquid diet, so you want to get it done as early as possible.

Plan to stay home from work the day before your colonoscopy. The preparation you have to complete will require that you be close to a bathroom.

Stop eating at the time that your doctor advises. You can only have clear liquids the entire day before your procedure. Your doctor may also not allow you to eat or drink anything after midnight if you are having anesthesia.

Take any type of enemas prescribed or recommended by the doctors. These products are used to clear out the colon so that the doctor can view the area through a colonoscope.

Arrange for a someone to drive you home after the procedure. You won't be allowed to drive at all the day of the colonoscopy.
