What is dacryoadenitis?

Dacryoadenitis is an inflammation of the lacrimal gland, which is a small gland located just above the eye that produces tears. The glands are responsible for producing tears to keep the eyes lubricated and free from irritation. Dacryoadenitis can be caused by a variety of factors, including infections, autoimmune diseases, and tumors. Symptoms of dacryoadenitis can include pain, swelling, and tenderness around the eye, as well as difficulty producing tears. Treatment for dacryoadenitis typically involves addressing the underlying cause of the inflammation, as well as providing symptomatic relief.
