If you have had cancer can donate blood?
It depends on the type of cancer you had, the treatment you received, and the time since your treatment ended.
* In general, you can donate blood if:
* You have had a type of cancer that is considered to be "curable," such as many types of skin cancer, breast cancer, and prostate cancer.
* You have completed treatment for your cancer and are cancer-free.
* You have had a type of cancer that is considered to be "incurable," but you are in remission and have not had any symptoms of cancer for a certain period of time.
* You have had a stem cell transplant or other type of transplant, but you are now healthy and cancer-free.
* You cannot donate blood if:
* You have had a type of cancer that is considered to be "non-curable" and you are not in remission.
* You are currently undergoing treatment for cancer.
* You have had any symptoms of cancer in the past 12 months.
* You have had a stem cell transplant or other type of transplant and you are not yet fully healthy.
If you are unsure whether or not you can donate blood, you can talk to your doctor or the staff at your local blood donation center.
