How to Quit Smoking without nicotine supplements
The first step to quitting any bad habit, like smoking, is wanting to. If you are being forced, or made to feel guilty until you quit, there is a high chance you might fail. People smoke, or stick with other bad habits because they are just that - habits. Once an addiction or habit has been formed, it is extremely difficult to break. The only way to break it, for good, is to want to stop more than you want the habit itself.Things You'll Need

1
Upon making the decision to quit, you need to set a date that you want to quit. Smoking, for example. You need to determine the very last day that you will smoke a cigarette and mark it on your calendars.
-
2
After selecting your date, tell your friends and family. This means that you are accountable to people other than yourself. As a smoker their "support" was probably a nuisance, and it will be afterwards too, but it will help if you listen to them.
-
3
Decide how you are going quit. Cold turkey or by cutting back. Make the decision that is best for you, but a word of advice for smoking specifically, cold turkey works best when you want to quit.

4
Buy a bunch of sugar-free hard candy and keep it on hand; keep it handy at home, at the office, and in the car - everywhere you used to smoke. (The sugar-free part helps to make sure you do not replace nicotine with sugar.) Gum, toothpicks, and anything else you enjoy that will keep your mouth and hands busy.
-

Finally, do not get discouraged. All smokers have to quit a couple times before it's for good. It takes time to get the nicotine out of your system, more than you may think. And it takes years to reverse the effects of smoking.
