What does a crushed lung feel like?

Signs and symptoms of a collapsed lung may include:

- Sudden, sharp chest pain that worsens with a deep breath, coughing or laughing.

- Shortness of breath or rapid breathing.

- Wheezing.

- Chest tightness.

- Pain in your shoulder or back.

- Bluish tint to the skin (cyanosis), especially in the lips and fingernails.

- Fast heart rate.

- Feeling faint or dizzy.

- Sweating.

- Fatigue or weakness.

Collapsed lung in children

In infants and children, signs and symptoms of a collapsed lung may include:

- Fast breathing.

- Bluish tint to the skin (cyanosis), especially in the lips and fingernails.

- Irritability.

- Difficulty breathing.

- Increased heart rate.

- Lethargy.

- Grunting.

- Bulging of the soft spot (fontanelle) in the skull.
